Living-Donor Liver Transplant for Patients with Low MELD Scores
Living-donor liver transplant is a first-line treatment option for patients with traditional or complex liver conditions. Any patient with liver decompensation irrespective of their MELD score should still be considered for a liver transplant, including those diagnosed with:
- ABO incompatible living donor liver transplant
- Acute liver failure
- Alcoholic hepatitis
- Bloodless medicine or bloodless surgery
- HIV recipients
- Low/ high MELD patients
- Re-do liver transplants
- Simultaneous liver kidney
