Welcome New UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Doctors
Darlene Gabeau, MD, PhD, is a radiation oncologist at St. Clair Hospital Cancer Center, Radiation Oncology, affiliated with UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. She also serves as a regional vice chair for radiation oncology at UPMC Hillman. Dr. Gabeau received her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT and completed her radiation oncology residency at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program in Boston.
Logan Myler, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Myler will develop an independently funded and nationally recognized research program in genome stability, including collaborating with both basic research and clinical faculty across UPMC Hillman. He holds a doctorate degree in cell and molecular biology and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin.
Orlando Scharer, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Scharer will develop an independently funded and nationally recognized research program in genome stability focused on novel mechanisms and translational application of cancer-related DNA damage pathways, chemo- and radiotherapy-induced DNA damage response and repair, biomarkers of treatment, and therapeutic targeting, in collaboration with UPMC Hillman faculty. Dr. Scharer earned his master’s degree in chemistry from ETH Zürich, Switzerland, and his doctorate degree in chemistry from Harvard University.
