Our excellence shines across the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute as a recognized leader in providing comprehensive cardiovascular care, offering cutting-edge treatments and advanced surgical procedures.
The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute also achieved major milestones across our regions, including the 5,000th open heart procedure at UPMC Western Maryland, the world’s first use of a new TAVR system at UPMC Harrisburg, and the 500th WATCHMAN procedure at UPMC Hamot. The institute expanded services in Central Pa. and earned top rankings in heart transplants and surgical excellence. With innovations like robotically-assisted LVAD implantation and virtual visits, UPMC continues to lead in advanced cardiovascular care.
Our commitment to excellence is further reflected in our ability to integrate research findings into clinical practice, ensuring that patients receive the most advanced and effective care available.
As we reflect on 2024, we hope you'll take a moment to explore our highlights. Thank you for your partnership in the field as we all work together to advance cardiology, heart, and vascular care. We hope you’ll consider nominating UPMC in the U.S. News & World Report 2025 “Best Hospitals” survey.
