Ophthalmology Alumni Reunion Slated for September 26-28

The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology will host its second annual Alumni Reunion Thursday, Sept. 26 through Saturday, Sept. 28. Events begin with a welcome reception on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center, followed by two days of engaging presentations at the UPMC Vision Institute’s headquarters at the new UPMC Mercy Pavilion in Uptown Pittsburgh.
On Friday, Sept. 27, distinguished professor and chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and director of the UPMC Vision Institute José-Alain Sahel, MD, will welcome guests and provide a department overview. Panel discussions highlighting access and community health, the business side of ophthalmology in both academic and private practice, and advancements in vision will follow, along with a keynote presentation by Pitt alumnus John C. Sheppard, MD, MSc, research showcase, science showcase, and alumni circle prior to a reception and dinner that evening.
Saturday, Sept. 28 includes wet lab demonstrations and training, as well as tours of the state-of-the-art Mercy Pavilion, which opened as the new home of the UPMC Vision Institute in 2023.
