The UPMC Cardiac Amyloidosis Center provides world-class diagnostics, treatment, and management of cardiac amyloidosis. Traditionally, this condition has required an invasive cardiac biopsy for diagnosis. Our team, which is at the forefront of clinical care and research, uses non-invasive imaging techniques to make the diagnosis in a majority of patients. Experts at the UPMC Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center are at the forefront of research and innovation for the treatment of HCM. We actively take part in national education and research endeavors to ensure we are providing the latest diagnostics, medications, and procedures. We are a designated Center of Excellence by the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association.
UPMC offers advanced, minimally invasive cardiac imaging techniques to obtain unparalleled measures of cardiac structure and function, which are critical for accurate diagnosis and personalized decision-making.
Select UPMC experts in electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, and cardiac surgery provide additional consultative support. We also collaborate with the UPMC Center for Inherited Heart Diseases to identify the genetic cause of each patient’s HCM and determine the risk of family members developing HCM as well. At the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute Limb Preservation Center, our vascular surgeons specialize in limb salvage and amputation prevention procedures for nonhealing wounds caused by peripheral vascular and venous disease. Our team of specialists takes a multidisciplinary approach to wound healing and limb salvage based on evidence-based guidelines and integrating emerging cutting-edge technologies and trials. Our surgeons offer the full spectrum of advanced surgical as well as minimally invasive and wound care strategies and are happy to see patients for a second opinion, especially after they have been recommended an amputation by other providers.
