Dr. Kmiec studied osteopathic medicine at Western University of Health Sciences and went on to complete her psychiatry residency at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. She completed her addiction psychiatry residency at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital and is currently the medical director for both the Ambulatory Detoxification Program and the Narcotic Addiction Treatment Program - Buprenorphine in the University of Pittsburgh Department of Psychiatry. Her clinical interests include opioid use disorder, withdrawal from substances, and urine toxicology.
