Continued Expertise in Women’s Care: APPs at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital Participate in ACC’s Cardio-Obstetrics Conference

There is a growing need for the cardiovascular care team to better understand the impact of diagnosis and treatment on people of child-bearing age, resulting in an increased need in Cardio-Obstetrics physicians and advanced practice providers to help improve maternal outcomes.

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is proud to have a number of physicians who specialize in Cardio-Obstetrics including Kathryn Berlacher, MD; Malamo Countouris, MD; Natasha Wolfe, MD; and Agnes Koczo, MD. In addition to the team of physicians, UPMC Magee-Womens demonstrates excellence and commitment to maternal care with a dynamic group of advanced practice providers who are experts in the Cardio-Obstetrics space including Kimberly Bollinger, CRNP; Kristen Weber, CRNP; Robert Bauer, MSN, CRNP, AG-ACNP-BC; and Mary Lee, PA-C.

All of the APPs were speakers at the American College of Cardiology’s Cardio-Obstetrics conference, with Kimberly serving on the conference planning committee for an educational session titled “Cardio-Obstetrics Essentials: Team-Based Management of Cardiovascular Disease and Pregnancy.” 

The interprofessional course focused on providing a basic to intermediate level of education on the evolving field of Cardio-Obstetrics including current recommendations for the evaluation, clinical management, treatment, and risk stratification of people with, or at risk for, cardiovascular disease during pregnancy.
