UPMC Magee-Womens Leaders Hold First Annual Planning Retreat

December 20, 2024

In October 2024, the UPMC Women’s Health Service Line (WHSL) leadership met for the first ever WHSL Planning Retreat. Leaders from across all areas of women’s health gathered for three days to exchange past experiences, share learnings, and create a plan to meet the needs of the future.

Centered around the theme: Comprehensively Counting Costs and Creating Value, the retreat’s presentations focused on the business case for investing in women’s specialty care and focusing on the full scope of women’s role as consumers and key decision-makers for their family.

The retreat began with an introduction that laid out the current state of the service line given by Robert Edwards, MD, chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, and Annmarie Lyons, vice president of the WHSL.

Presentations over the next two days focused on strategies and proactive analytics that will be used to help guide the expansion of and integration of women’s health services across the UPMC footprint.
