Dr. José Zevallos, the Eugene N. Myers, MD, Professor and Chairman of Otolaryngology, was featured on Audacy to discuss a medical breakthrough in Pittsburgh involving cancer treatments. He explains how lymphatic fluid from surgical drains that are normally discarded can become liquid biopsy to plan treatment and determine recurrence for head and neck cancer patients. Dr. Jose Zevallos became Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology in August 2022. His clinical interests include the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, salivary gland tumors, thyroid and parathyroid conditions, and benign tumors of the head and neck. He has a special interest in transoral robotic surgery for HPV+ oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
