Highlighted Faculty Scholarly Activities

 Noor A. Khan, MD, (Complete Primary Care Associates-UPMC) and Mehrshid Kiazand, MD, (Superior Family Medicine-UPMC) in collaboration with other generalist obesity medicine faculty from around the country, developed a workshop on “Obesity Medicine for Primary Care Physicians.” Dr. Khan led the highly received workshop at the Society for General Internal Medicine National Meeting in Aurora, CO in May 2023. The workshop content is being developed for publication on the online GIMLearn platform.  

David Rometo, MD, co-authored a paper published in the journal Obesity earlier this year. The faculty group’s retrospective cohort study evaluated real-world weight loss effectiveness of glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists among patients with type 2 diabetes. Research reported in this publication was supported by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of the National Institutes of Health under award number KL2TR001856 and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (Jing Luo) under award number K23DK120956.
