The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine recently hosted the Pittsburgh International Lung Conference (PILC), which happened on September 19 to 20, 2024.
PILC is a comprehensive conference dedicated to exploring the latest advancements and challenges in pulmonary research that brings together leading scientists and health care professionals from around the world to explore key topics shaping the future of lung health.
The main topic of this year's event was “From Smog to Social Equity: How the Exposome Shapes Our Respiratory Health,” and discussion focused on new insights on how the exposome impacts lung disease. Experts presented on topics including air pollution and its impact on respiratory health, the role of the microbiome in asthma and COPD, and the intersection of climate change and lung diseases, and more.
Course directors from the division included Sally Wenzel, MD, and Divay Chandra, MD, MSc.
