Managing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease requires a comprehensive team approach. At UPMC, our team of heart care experts are dedicated to offering personalized care and treatment options to patients diagnosed with a range of heart conditions.

We are pleased to announce that our team in Southwest Pa. and Northwest Pa. is expanding to include the below experts who share this same dedication to patient-centered care.

Elizabeth Andraska, MD

Vascular Surgery

Dr. Andraska received her medical degree at the University of Michigan. She then completed a residency and fellowship in vascular surgery at UPMC. Dr. Andraska is board certified and has expertise in vascular surgery.

 

Irsa Hasan, MD

Cardiac Surgery

Dr. Hasan received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. She then completed a residency in general surgery at Mayo Clinic. Following her residency, she completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at UPMC and a robotic cardiac surgery advanced fellowship at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Hasan specializes in cardiac surgery with an interest in repair strategies and robotic approach to mitral valve disease.

 

Chad Kosanovich, MD

Cardiology

Dr. Kosanovich received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at UPMC, followed by cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiac imaging fellowships at UPMC. Dr. Kosanovich is board certified in internal medicine. He has expertise in pulmonary hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and cardiac MRI and coronary CTA.

 

David Liddle, MD

Pediatric Cardiology

Dr. Liddle received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Ga. He then completed residencies at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., followed by a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Liddle specializes in pediatric cardiology with an interest in advanced cardiac imaging. This includes cardiac MRI and fetal imaging, as well as transesophageal and transthoracic echocardiograms.

 

Thomas Melvin, MD

Thoracic Surgery

Dr. Melvin received his medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in general surgery at UPMC Mercy, followed by a fellowship in thoracic surgery at UPMC. Dr. Melvin specializes in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and thoracic surgical oncology.

 

Santosh Pandit, MD

Cardiology

Dr. Pandit received his medical degree from Government Medical College at Nagpur University in Nagpur, India where he also completed a residency in internal medicine. Dr. Pandit is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and adult echocardiography. He specializes in cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty, non-invasive cardiac imaging, nuclear stress testing, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).

 

Katherine Reitz, MD

Vascular Surgery

Dr. Reitz received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. She then completed a residency in general surgery at UPMC, followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery at UPMC. Dr. Reitz is board certified in general surgery and specializes in vascular surgery.

Jared Romeo, MD

Interventional Cardiology

Dr. Romeo received his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. He then completed an internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at UPMC. He specializes in interventional cardiology, and his areas of focus include inherited and infectious cardiomyopathies.

 

Roy Sriwattanakomen, MD

Cardiology

Dr. Sriwattanakomen received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before completing a residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Ma. and a fellowship at UPMC. He specializes in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine.

 

Takuya Ogami, MD

Cardiac Surgery

Dr. Ogami received his medical degree from the Juntendo University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. Following this, he completed an intensive care residency and fellowship, as well as a senior residency in cardiovascular surgery, at the Kameda Medical Center in Chiba, Japan. Dr. Ogami is board certified in general surgery and specializes in aortic valve disease and thoracic aortic disease, including minimally invasive approaches.
