New Grant for Metastatic Ewing Sarcoma Research Awarded to Kelly M. Bailey, MD, PhD

April 6, 2023

UPMC Children’s Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology researcher, Kelly M. Bailey, MD, PhD, received a new research grant from the Charlie Landers Foundation through the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Pittsburgh to further her ongoing studies of the role of galectin-3 in metastatic Ewing sarcoma.

Dr. Bailey’s research hypothesizes that galectin-3 (Gal3) acts as an immunoinhibitory factor in Ewing sarcoma, and proposes to study the impact of Gal3 on tumor immune cell infiltration.
